Submissions

The Journal welcomes submissions from academics, practitioners, and others with an interest in Law & Technology. Topics considered for publication are not limited to traditional areas of Technology Law such as the Internet or E-commerce. Any scholarly work exploring the intersection of the law with science and technology will be considered. Article submissions must be a minimum of 30 pages, double-spaced. Casenotes and Comments must be a minimum of 20 pages, double-spaced. All submissions must follow the citation format of The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (19th Edition). Articles without citations or largely incomplete citations will not be accepted. Articles should be accompanied with an abstract describing the author of no more than 250 words, the author’s contact information, and the author’s resume.

Submissions may be made in one of three ways: e-mail, U.S. Mail, or private courier.

Electronic Submissions

To submit an article via e-mail, send it as an attachment, complete with abstract and resume, to jolt@richmond.edu. Please place the word “Submission” in the subject line of your e-mail.

Our preferred format is Microsoft Word (Word 97, 2000, XP, 2003, 2007, or 2010). We are able to convert most other popular word processing platforms such as Corel Word Perfect or Microsoft Works. If you have concerns related to our ability to convert your article, please do not hesitate to inquire by e-mail or telephone as to our ability to accept your work in a particular format.

If you choose to submit your article through U.S. mail or private courier, please include a CD-ROM that contains your article in electronic format. See above for our preferred file format conventions. Please include a printed copy of your article as well.

Review Process

Each submission is reviewed by our Articles Editors, who make a recommendation to the Admin Board on whether to extend an offer to the author. Our review process normally takes about 5-7 days from the time the submission is received. The author can expect a decision within 10 days of submitting the article. If an author wishes to have expedited review of their work due to outstanding offers from other publications, please make note of this with the submission, or contact the Journal by e-mail or telephone.
